London (Central) Tribunal Closed

  • Posted

I have been asked by Judge Barry Clarke, President of Employment Tribunals in England and Wales, to circulate the message below.

To ensure the safety of all tribunal users, Victory House, the hearing venue used by London (Central) Employment Tribunal, will be temporarily closed as a precautionary measure whilst we investigate a potential issue with the building’s air ventilation. This measure has been agreed by the President and the Regional Employment Judge for London (Central) Employment Tribunal.

Until the matter has been resolved, Victory House will remain closed to the judiciary, staff and tribunal users.

The case management system currently used by the Employment Tribunals cannot be accessed remotely. As a result:
- Tomorrow’s hearings are all to be conducted remotely by video or telephone. They will remain effective. This is because they have been administratively prepared by HMCTS and the appropriate documentation is already with the assigned judiciary.

- Hearings listed for the week commencing Monday 21st December are postponed. They will be relisted as soon as possible. Efforts are underway to notify all parties and their representatives.

- We will provide an update on the afternoon of Tuesday 22nd December on the status of hearings due to commence on Monday 4th January 2021. Work is underway to consider alternative venues in the event that the building cannot be reopened by then.

There are no hearings listed for the week commencing Monday 28th December.

We will provide an update on the outcome of the investigation as soon as possible and apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause.
